Bonding with Beasts: The Trial of the Magada

The Magada was the first Chronikin we finished in all three forms, and it taught us most of what the bond system became. A Fractured Magada is a lump of cooling stone with a temper; by its Fabled form it is a walking hearth that other Chronikin gather around. The trial was making that growth feel earned at the table rather than granted by a level.

The answer was to tie each ascension to a choice the Archivist makes about the bond itself: shelter the Magada from its Aspect, or feed it. Both paths reach Fabled, but they arrive with different Skill Tiers, and the difference is visible in play.
