Deolis
Summary
The nation of Deolis is exemplified as a land of diversity, both of its people and its culture. It is not uncommon for there to be extreme differences in religious practices from even neighboring city states and with their expansive pantheon of gods, the people of Deolis are typically well rounded.

History & lore
Deolis is not one realm but a league of city-states, each with its own courts, festivals and patron gods. Tall marbled columns, temples and public bath houses mark a Deolan city from a distance, and the road between two of them can cross from one rite to its opposite in an afternoon. What binds the cities is older than any treaty: a shared pantheon, ruled by Olyrion, king of the gods, and the conviction that the gods take sides.
That conviction shapes Deolan Archivists. Bonding is treated as an act of devotion, and a Chronikin such as Zaeladonys is read as divine wrath given a body rather than as a beast to be tamed. Deolans are expected to be capable in many things and masters of none in particular, an ideal the city-states put down to being favored by the gods.
